The Three Little Pillars of Life
In the famous fable, The Three Little Pigs, three pig brothers, recently matured, leave home to create their own lives. The first brother, lazy and unaccomplished, creates a house out of straw. The second brother decided to build his house out of wood. It was sturdy, but not did not take much effort to build as it would’ve taken a stronger house. The third brother, fearful of the big bad wolf, tediously built his house out of mortar and bricks. In the end, the third brother’s house was what saved all three pigs from being eaten. The story of the Three Little Pigs acts as a microcosm of life, that dedication, hard work, and perseverance are the pillars of success.
It’s easy to glance over an individual’s success as pure good luck. In reality, success is the result of numerous instances laboring over one’s work regardless of failure. J.K. Rowling, a critically acclaimed author and writer of the famous fantasy series, Harry Potter, was rejected by 12 publishers before her first novel of Harry Potter was finally published. Even though her writing journey was tedious, Rowling did not give up and become lazy. She persevered. Now, Rowling’s name is widely recognized, her novels bringing in fame and wealth.
In the end, though its human nature to wish for a quick end to tenuous tasks, the strength and dedication to continue is often rewarded with success. Whether it be the fame of a book series or the saving of one’s house, the amount of good things one experiences is often coupled with the amount of work they put into said circumstance.
